Synopsis:
Mr walks alone in the middle of the night. It’s dark. The only light source comes from the streetlights and the moon.
Mr is a very depressed, sad and lonely man… Thing. He walks in a calm tempo with the head down, looking down to the ground.
He walks into an alley, careful -but is still looking very melancholic in the face.
You get the feeling of a town by night. Its empty and you just hear some sounds. It’s a bit scary.
A streetlight casts a spotlight on the wall, where he walks.
As he walks into that spotlight his shadow starts to move in a strange way. Something isn’t right.
At first Mr gets scared. And the shadows moves more and more… Until it starts to dance! - A happy dance!
The shadow has got his own life, cuz he didn’t want to be stuck with Mr Depressing. -It was boring.
The shadow is keep dancing and Mr is getting insane and confused. This is stupid! - He thinks. Then he just gets tired of this madness. And without warning, he throws his stick at the lamp, so it breaks, the light goes down and the shadow is disappearing (dies).
Mr walk on…

*Alternative ending: Mr goes to the streetlight to strangle it, to kill the light (because he can’t stand the dance anymore) and then he throws the stick at the lamp, and walks away.

Synopsis:
Fear of the shadow

This is the synopsis for my film.

                                    Fear the shadow

My story starts in a kitchen window with a wooden doll/toy. She is very content and happy just standing there. Then one day the door to the apartment slams a bit to harsh making the vase that is standing next to the doll on the kitchen table tip over and fall on her, as a result she falls out of the open window landing in the dumpster in the alley underneath the window. There she tries desperately to get out of the dumpster. All of the sudden she hears the most frightening sound off all ….the garbage truck! Knowing that if she ends up in the truck she will never get back to the comfortable apartment she panics more and more and in one last effort she reaches the ledge of the dumpster and from there she reaches the edge of the fire escape and can climb up to her window at last…And there the story ends with her all dirty and exhausted but very relieved that she is back in her window.
I want to have a very realistic style in the short film regarding texturing and lighting. As to what time it takes place in I was thinking present day but with an old French touch.

Here goes!

Synopsis, references and some character sketches and renders.

I’m having second thoughts about the main character (the green one), will probably make a new one, more human like.

Edit: Doh, the storyboard images are in the wrong order

Fråga: Intag till Datorgrafik

Hej!

/mvh orolig

Here’s my synopsis:

My story takes place on a high mountain surrounded by nothing but thin blue air, on the top of it there’s a small cave that a bird managed to find his way into. He’s looking at his own shadow projected on the cave wall and he’s quite fascinated by it. The bird strikes different poses to see how his shadow changes(When there’s no mirror around, your own shadow is the best way for a vain bird to admire his stunning good looks). Suddenly, another bird’s shadow is projected on the wall, and what’s worse, it’s bigger than his own. The bird looks to his side and as sure as eggs is eggs there’s another bird standing there! Slightly annoyed by the intrusion the bird walks over to the wall to study the other, bigger, shadow and as he approaches he sees that his own shadow is shrinking. Puzzled, he takes a step back, and the shadow gets bigger again, he takes yet another step back and again his shadow grows. He smirks evilly as he glances over at his competitor, whereupon he takes a big leap backwards and, as expected, his shadow is now the biggest. The other bird, who is quick to respond; also backs up. The birds exchange aggressive looks, they both start backing more rapidly, and before they know what happened, the ground is gone…

Screen goes black

You see the birds standing together on a small cliff barely big enough for both of them, one looks up, the other one looks to the side. The camera zooms out so the vast distance down becomes evident.

My synopsis of Fear the Shadow

Shortfilm – 08

”Fear the Shadow”

Synopsis:
It’s a dark ally in an old Chinese quarter. The sun is setting and the air is calm. All doors and windows are closed, not a person to be seen. The buildings are crooked and placed without order.
One of the ruined houses has a missing door. There is complete darkness in the hallway of the house, nothing to be seen. Next to the doorway is a Chinese character, a sign written in charcoal.
A creature is approaching slowly from the dark of the room. It feels its way through the air as it moves forward. The movement is soft and floating, as if it moved under water. Its motive is the painting on the wall of the opposite building. A red and golden dragon is sketched on the eroded stone wall. The creature curiously touches the painting and suddenly a shadowy figure rushes over the face of the wall. The creature is frightened and flees back into the dark.

Further Notes:

I will focus on realism when it comes to lighting, texturing and modeling the scene.
The creature it self will be “realistic” in means of surface, texturing and movement. At least this is my goal.
There will be very little facial expressions, just a slight movement of the shape of the eyes and mouth.
Some post-rendering effects might be added to give the scene more volume.
